/ What We Assess

Three components. One standard.

Driver Competency Evaluation

Vehicle Readiness Check

Documented Assessment Record

A structured on-road assessment measuring decision-making, vehicle handling, and hazard response against the full MiDAS criteria.

Pre-assessment vehicle inspection covering safety-critical systems — mirrors, tyres, controls, and emergency equipment — before any route begins.

Every assessment produces a written record you can present to insurers and regulators — dated, signed, and aligned to the MiDAS reporting format.

I Come to You - Training Conducted On-Site in Your Own Minibus

Based in Nassington, Northamptonshire, SafeRoute Training delivers professional MIDAS-aligned minibus driver training and assessments across Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and South Lincolnshire.

As a qualified MIDAS Assessor, CTA-registered training provider and Enhanced DBS holder, I provide independent driver assessments for schools, charities, community transport operators and other organisations operating minibuses.

Assessments are conducted professionally, objectively and in accordance with MIDAS standards, helping organisations demonstrate compliance, manage risk and maintain high standards of driver safety.

Sectors I support:

  • Independent schools

  • Academies and Multi-Academy Trusts

  • Colleges and universities

  • Charities

  • Community transport providers

  • Volunteer driver schemes

  • Sports clubs

  • Scout and Guide groups

  • Youth organisations

  • Faith groups

  • Social enterprises

  • Parish councils

  • Housing associations

  • Non-profit organisations

  • Arts and cultural organisations

Assessment Process

The assessment includes registration for the Community Transport Association's online MiDAS theory module, followed by a practical driving assessment carried out at your premises using your own minibus. This provides a realistic evaluation of driver competence in the vehicle and operating environment used on a day-to-day basis.

Following the assessment, organisations receive clear feedback, a written assessment report and supporting documentation to assist with driver management and compliance records. Completed assessment records are also uploaded to the Community Transport Association portal.

Coverage

SafeRoute Training is based in Nassington, Northamptonshire, and delivers services throughout Peterborough, Stamford, Oundle, Oakham, Uppingham, Corby, Kettering, Market Deeping, Bourne, Huntingdon, Northampton and surrounding areas. Wider travel is available by arrangement.

Consistent. Systematic. Defensible.

The same rigorous standard, every time

Assessment outcomes should not vary by day or assessor mood. Our process is structured so the result is repeatable, comparable, and holds up under scrutiny.

Fleet managers operating under regulatory pressure need records that don't invite follow-up questions. We write them that way from the start.

One missed assessment is a liability gap

Schedule your next MiDAS assessment before the gap appears.
